The timeline usually shows eye symptoms first, with skin changes appearing 3–6 months later. Unlike the human version of VKH, deafness and nervous system signs like meningitis are not typical in dogs. 🧠🚫

🧬 What Causes This Syndrome?

This condition is caused by an autoimmune attack on melanocytes, but the trigger remains unknown. It is suspected that viral exposure or an environmental factor may start the immune response. Dogs are genetically predisposed, particularly certain breeds. 🧬🐾

• 🐕 Akitas (up to 4.1% affected)
