1. Slide on & set up
Slide the ID Tag onto your pet’s collar, then set up their profile in the Ask A Vet app. Add their photo, your contact details, medical alerts, allergies, and anything else a finder should know.
2. A finder scans the tag
If your pet is found, anyone can scan the QR code with their phone. NFC-compatible phones can simply tap the tag. No Ask A Vet account or app is required for the finder.

3. Get notified instantly
As soon as the tag is scanned, you’ll receive an alert so you know someone has found your pet. When available, you’ll also see the scan location and the finder can use the tag to get in touch with you.

Does this tag track my pet’s location or health?

No. This smart ID tag does not continuously track your pet’s location or health. However, when someone scans the tag, you’ll receive an alert with the scan location when available, using the finder’s device location. Does the finder need the ASK A VET™ app?

No. Anyone can access your pet’s profile by scanning the QR code or tapping the tag with an NFC-compatible phone. No app or account is required.

What can someone see when they scan the tag?

They can instantly access your pet’s digital profile, including the information you choose to share, such as contact details, medical alerts, allergies, medications, dietary needs, and care instructions.

Will I know when someone scans my pet’s tag?

Yes. You’ll receive an alert when your pet’s tag is scanned. When location is available, the alert can also include the location where the scan happened, helping you know where your pet was found.

Does this replace a microchip?

We recommend using both. A microchip provides permanent identification but requires a compatible scanner. The ASK A VET™ ID Tag gives anyone with a smartphone quick access to your pet’s up-to-date profile and contact information.

Is there a subscription fee?

No. Your pet’s digital ID profile is included for life at no additional cost. Optional ASK A VET™ features and services may require a separate subscription.

Can I update my pet’s information?

Yes. Update your contact details, medical information, allergies, medications, care instructions, and other profile information anytime through ASK A VET™. There’s no need to replace the tag when your pet’s details change.
