With Premium you get 2 certified vet chats a month and discounted telehealth video calls, plus unlimited AI Vet chat, in the app that holds your pet’s tracker data. Fi’s pages list AI answers and AI vet records, but no vet chat.
Play a clicker, whistle or Come Back tone, or your own short sounds such as your voice, on the collar from the app, with vibration cues within Bluetooth range. Fi states sound is not available on the Series 3+.
When a friend, sitter or family member takes the leash, alerts like a medication reminder or leaving a safe zone pop up on the collar with a chime. It also shows daily stats at a glance, from steps to sleep. Fi’s pages do not list a screen.
The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker has a built-in QR pet ID. A finder scans it with a phone camera, no app needed, and Lost mode alerts you when it is scanned. Fi’s pages list Lost Mode and Search Party, which alerts nearby Fi members, but no finder ID.
You want eating and drinking tracked
Fi states the Series 3+ uses AI to detect barking, scratching, licking, eating and drinking. The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker counts barks and sends temperature alerts.
Your pet is under 4 kg
Fi makes a smaller tracker, the Fi Mini, which Fi says suits all dogs, big or small, and indoor or outdoor cats. The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker is for dogs and cats over 4 kg.
You want the tracker built into the collar
The Series 3+ is an all-in-one smart collar, and Fi states its stainless steel frame handles dogs that pull and chew.
If coverage beyond North America and Europe, vets in the same app, training and custom sounds, or a screen that shows alerts to whoever has the leash matter more to you, the Ask A Vet GPS Tracker is the better fit.

Yes. Fi lists a subscription as required: a Fi Membership, in 6-month, 1-year or 2-year terms. The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker also needs a plan, Ask A Vet’s Tracker Plan or Premium, and Ask A Vet Premium adds vet chat and discounted telehealth video calls.
We found no vet chat or telehealth on Fi’s product, app or help pages. Fi’s pages list AI vet records and Fi Intelligence, which gives AI answers based on your dog’s health and breed. With Ask A Vet Premium, the AI Vet and certified vets are in the same app as your tracker.
Fi lists the Series 3+ for medium to large dogs. Its cat tracker is the Fi Mini, which Fi says supports indoor or outdoor cats. The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker is one tracker for dogs and cats over 4 kg; for a cat under 4 kg, look at the Fi Mini.
Fi states sound is not available on the Series 3+; its sound and vibration recall, Fi CallBack, comes on Fi Ultra, which Fi lists for the United States only. The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker plays eight tones on the collar, training tones such as a clicker, a whistle and Come Back, and your own short sounds, such as your voice. Cues help build routines and are not a substitute for professional training.
Dogs don’t always head out with the person who has the app. When a friend, sitter or family member takes the leash, the screen shows them important alerts directly, with a chime: a medication reminder, leaving a safe zone, a temperature warning or a lost-pet alert. It also shows daily stats at a glance, from steps to sleep, and your pet’s ID. Fi’s pages do not list a screen on the Series 3+.
The Ask A Vet GPS Tracker has a built-in QR pet ID: a finder scans it with a phone camera, no app needed, and Lost mode alerts you when it is scanned. Fi’s pages list Lost Mode and Search Party, which alerts nearby Fi members, but no finder ID on the collar. Either way, keep your dog microchipped and wearing an ID tag.
Set up the Ask A Vet GPS Tracker in the Ask A Vet app: it pairs over Bluetooth, then you add your pet and choose a plan. Your Fi Safe Zones and history do not move across, so draw your safe zones again. Cancel your Fi Membership with Fi.
